Questions & Answers

Everything worth knowing before your first — or next — appointment.

General

How do I choose a service — or a therapist?

It is more about style preference than who is "better" — every therapist here gives a strong, responsive deep-tissue massage, and each has dedicated regulars. If you like relaxation work, any of our therapists can do that well. One good approach is to try a couple of therapists and stay with whoever suits you best; no one will be offended. See "Our Therapists" for each person's specialties.

What if I ask for deep pressure and it is too much?

Please speak up. All of our therapists adjust pressure from light to very firm based on what you tell us during the session. We can feel the knots and tension, but only you can feel your pain level — your feedback is what guides the pressure.

What is DEEP Deep Tissue, and why does it cost more?

It is sustained, heavy pressure. That work is hard on a therapist's joints, so we schedule extra recovery time after these sessions to ice, stretch, and rest before the next client. If you book DEEP Deep Tissue, that recovery time is scheduled automatically and the DEEP fee applies even if you decide you want lighter pressure. If you are unsure, book a regular Deep Tissue massage first.

What should I wear, and what is the draping policy?

Undress to your comfort level. You will remain draped for the entire massage — only the area being worked on is uncovered at any time.

How often should I get a massage?

For general wellness and stress, every 2–4 weeks is common. For active recovery or chronic pain, weekly or bi-weekly is often more effective. The Massage Club is built for clients who genuinely want regular massage.

Do you take insurance?

No. We accept HSA cards, cash, local check with ID, credit card, and gift certificates. We do not bill insurance.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request 24 hours notice. For a party of 1–2: less than 4 hours notice is 50% of booked services, less than 1 hour is 75%, and a no-show or cancellation at/after the appointment time is 100%. Groups of 3 or more have wider windows — see the Policies page for the full detail.

Specialty Services

CBD Upgrade — what is it?

A 100 mg CBD lotion upgrade added to your massage (+$15, or +$13 for club members). CBD is used topically for localized muscle and joint relief. If you have questions about whether it is right for you, ask your therapist when you book.

Oncology massage — who is it for?

Anyone who currently has cancer, or who has had cancer AND radiation and/or lymph-node removal, or who is still on chemotherapy medications. It requires a short consult first (phone $20 or in person $40, credited to your first session) so the therapist can make the necessary adjustments. Your doctor is welcome to call us with questions.

Myofascial Release — how is it different from massage?

It is a gentle technique that releases adhesions in the fascial system, which connects everything in the body. Fascia does not show up on scans, so fascial issues are often misdiagnosed. If you are trying to resolve a long-standing problem, one of the multi-session packages is recommended; the 1-Week Intensive is designed for the most extensive adhesions.
